              MLB rules

Bookies differ on their MLB rules in terms of listed pitchers. That is, baseball games and odds are very much influenced by which pitchers will throw in the game.

In terms of starting (listed) pitchers there are 3 options – either betting with both listed pitchers, one listed pitcher or regardless of the pitchers.

In case one or both of the declared pitchers do not start the game (make the initial throw), odds are adjusted accordingly or bets are cancelled. Oddsandbets match ONLY bets from bookmakers who offer the “both listed pitchers” options, i.e. bets and odds stand in case both pitchers start, otherwise bets are void. When placing MLB surebets, always make sure you have selected both pitchers to start the game. Otherwise, you risk having your bet voided or odds adjusted due to a pitcher change.

When scanning for MLB arbs, our system does automatically detect whether both bookies involved in the arb offer the same starting pitchers.  Double-checking the pitcher names is, however, recommended before placing the trade.

OddsAndBets is also the first system to cover not only MLB moneylines, but also run-lines (handicaps) and under/over (total runs).  This drastically increases the number of MLB arbs delivered and turns Baseball into one of the best arbing sports.

Handicaps and Totals are also available on Basketball and American Football and work the same way as in MLB!

MLB Handicaps - also known as run lines, sides or spreads - just like any other handicap this betting type gives a head start to one of the teams.  When handicap arbing always verify that the handicap is the SAME with both bookmakers, i.e. if it's +1.5 on one, it must be -1.5 on the other outcome with the other bookmaker.  You're placing a safe wager ONLY if the positive (+) part is greater then or equal to the negative (-) part of the handicap.

MLB Total Runs - also known as under/over - this is wagering on how many "runs" both teams will make in a given match.  When betting on totals you're betting whether both teams will make more than the offered number of runs or less than that number (e.g. 10 runs in the game).  Different bookies may offer a different number of runs, however our system does check whether the offered number is the same with both bookies involved in an arb.  You must place a bet on under that number of runs and another bet on over that number.  If the number of runs is different (which is a very rare case) - the under must be greater than the over (for example - over 9 and under 10).

In general bookies offer 2 types of Total Runs bets - where the number of runs is either a whole number (for example 10 runs) or a fractional number (for example - 9.5 runs).  Logically, if it's a fractional number the bet is always either a winner or a loser (that is, the teams will in fact score a whole number or runs).  If the offer is on whole number of runs (let's say 10) and the teams score exactly 10 runs - both bookies should refund your stakes.

Know the rules...

>> When placing MLB surebets - make sure you ALWAYS select both pitchers to start the game.

>> Also, check that both bookmakers in a MLB arb are offering the SAME pitchers to start for the 2 teams in the game.

>> For MLB arbitrages, we only cover bookmakers offering the both listed/starting pitchers option, as the other types carry a risk.
